Yoga

Hatha Yoga is a fantastic way to completely relax and rejuvenate after a long day at work or looking after children. It is an ancient system which improves our wellbeing through relaxation, breathing exercises, and physical postures. Anti-ageing, relief from aches and pains, fat-burning, hormone balancing, and calming are just a few of the benefits of yoga. Continued practise gives great support to the skeletal and muscular system as it increases circulation, flexibility and strength. Posture is improved and tension disappears, reducing, if not completely removing, back and joint pain.

Everyone can benefit from yoga, as there is always a way to adapt the practise to suit your body. The more we practise, the more we feel the benefits, physically and emotionally, as we begin to loosen up our muscles and our minds. Even from the very first lesson you will leave a class feeling completely "overhauled" as if you had just been infused with energy and vitality.

Clinical Psychology

The Therapy Rooms offer an established Clinical Psychology service, several days each week.

Clinical Psychologists apply psychological insights and skills to the area of human distress that can lead to feelings of serious unhappiness, mental pain and anguish.

Where appropriate, Clinical Psychologists help people come to terms or solve their problems through systematic interviewing and (sometimes) agreed mental exercises. This is called psychotherapy.

Psychotherapy may help with feelings of anxiety, extreme sadness or grief, stress or uncertainty about how to find a solution to seemingly 'stuck' problems.

Consultations are strictly by appointment.

Refexology and Reiki

The ancient healing art of reflexology has been known for many thousands of years. In foot reflexology, congestion or tension in any part of the foot mirrors congestion or tension in other parts of the body. The foot can be seen as a map, with different pressure points corresponding to organs throughout the body.

The treatment consists of gentle to hard pressure (at your preference) to the points on the feet where tiny crystalline deposits and imbalances may be found. By working on these points blockages can be released, and the free flow of energy to the whole body restored. Tensions are eased, and circulation and elimination is improved. This gentle therapy encourages the body to heal itself at its own pace, often counteracting a lifetime of accumulated trauma.

Reiki is believed to come from ancient texts rediscovered and developed by Mikao Usui in Japan early last century and means 'Universal Energy'. Eastern medicine has always recognised and worked with this energy, which flows through all living things and is vital to the well-being of life.

As a therapy, Reiki is an effective and simple way of tapping into this energy, as it stimulates your body's own natural healing potential. It is a non-invasive experience, consisting of hand movements placed on or over the body and can be experienced fully-clothed, while you are seated or lying down.

The energy is gentle and relaxing. It eases stress and tension, relieves physical trauma, and wards off illness and fatigue, promoting health and a sense of well-being - mentally, physically and emotionally.

Hypnotherapy

How can Clinical Hypnosis help you?

Clinical Hypnosis is the art and science of using our natural unconscious processes to solve our problems rather than the conscious thinking processes that we are most familiar with.

Sometimes we feel 'stuck' or 'blocked' and unable to move forwards towards what we really want or need. Usually this is because there is an unwanted emotion or behaviour getting in our way. We know logically that we shouldn't feel a certain way or do a certain thing but no amount of conscious 'thinking' or 'understanding' seems to change the way we feel or act. This is because our emotions and some of our behaviours are also generated at an 'unconscious' level.

This is why clinical hypnosis can be very beneficial, as it is often at the 'unconscious' level where the fastest, most effective and comfortable solution lies. When we change at an unconscious level, we may consciously notice that things have changed and feel better but we can't necessarily explain the logical reason why. You just feel different.

As a hypnotist, it is my job to know how to engage this 'hidden' power of yours towards your goals. This can seem amazing at times because it sometimes defies our rational thinking as to what 'should' work or be possible.

Despite all the advances in psychology, in this culture, we are often not given accurate guidance on how our emotions and unconscious abilities work, so sometimes we just seem to keep banging our head on the same old brick wall again and again unnecessarily. It's time to find out how you can eliminate these obstacles, regain control of your situation and feel that natural sense of freedom that is in fact your birthright.

So, to find out more, pick up the phone and call John Baker on 07968 848 753 or email john@hypnoticrealities.co.uk for a free consultation as to how, when we co-operate, we may best help you get what you want. I also operate a no change, no charge policy, so there really is nothing to lose apart from the problem!

All treatment sessions will be confidential and take place at the back2balance clinic, 35 Goldstone Villas, Hove BN3 3RT. You can also contact John via his website: hypnoticrealities.co.uk

Homeopathy

Homeopathy is a form of medicine which treats the whole person, the body, the mind and the spirit. It is an energy medicine and so it is a gentle and effective method of stimulating healing. We are energetic beings and so by offering the body energy medicines, the response is natural and not imposed.

During a consultation I ask questions to find out who you are as an individual, carefully taking into account all your symptoms to build up a whole picture before deciding on the appropriate remedy. One of the first signs of healing is that you feel better in yourself.

Homeopathy can be helpful for emotional problems such as anxiety, depression and grief. Due to its non-toxic nature it can be supportive in pregnancy, childbirth and child development. Most disorders will respond to homeopathic treatment from eczema to hormonal problems to digestive disorders. Homeopathy can help to reduce the use of antibiotics, drugs and surgery.

Sports Massage Therapy and Pre/Post Natal Massage Therapy

Sports massage may be beneficial not only for those involved in regular sporting activities and exercise, but also for those who feel the aches and strains of everyday life. Sometimes playing with your children, daily chores, your work environment and even sitting at the computer for extended periods can cause muscular tension.

There is a common misconception that Sports Massage will always be painful, on the contrary, sports massage is a deep, soft tissue manipulating technique which may relieve the tension held in muscles, improve joint mobility and muscle flexibility, and ease stress.

My aim as a sports massage practitioner is to work with you and not against your 'tight' muscles. I have worked in the field of sports/leisure for nearly 10 years, as a Personal Trainer, and this experience and knowledge helps in understanding how and why the body is affected by sport and activity and how to facilitate better performance and recovery through massage.'

During pregnancy low back ache, tired shoulders, swollen feet and ankles, weary legs are all quite common and having a massage can help to ease tension. Massage improves circulation and relaxes muscles which may be feeling the strain of changes to the skeleton and joints whilst pregnant.

Pre-natal massage is different from normal massage as consideration needs to be made for the changes occurring in the mum-to-be's body and her comfort levels. Each woman's experience of pregnancy is unique and pre-natal massage may help to make this exciting time more comfortable, empowering and stress-free. Whether you are pregnant yourself or looking for a gift for a mum-to-be, a pre-natal massage is more than just a pampering treat, it can be a welcome relief and a rejuvenating experience.

Indian Head Massage & Facial Rejuvenation Massage Therapies

Indian Head Massage is a holistic alternative therapy that incorporates acupressure and massage techniques to assist in the rebalance of energy.

This treatment is wonderful for those that want to explore other options to relieve aches and pains in the muscles of the face, scalp, neck, upper back and shoulders giving a better balance of energy levels.

With the stimulation of the lymphatic system it helps to eliminate waste products from the body, helping to strengthen the immune system.

It gives relief to eyestrain, muscle tension, headaches, sinusitis, nasal congestion, tinnitus and insomnia, reducing stress, anxiety and fatigue resulting in improved concentration and increased energy levels.

Improvement to your skin and hair condition can be another benefit to having this relaxing massage.

Revitalising Facial Massage is a mix between Facial Reflexology and Eastern Facial techniques. The tissues in the face lose elasticity and it is vitally important to keep the facial muscles toned and relieved of built up toxins. This relaxing treatment rejuvenates the skin, and relaxes eye muscles relieving tension headaches, facial pain, neck tension and eye strain. If treatment is maintained it can give the appearance of a younger looking skin.

If you book this treatment you will be on the path to self-improvement. Incorporating this into your regular beauty therapies, even if it is once a month, your face will look radiant and leave you with a feeling of 'well being'.

This relaxing treatment can correct liver and gall bladder imbalances and relieve premenstrual water retention.
