Meet the Team

Doctor of Chiropractic Rebecca Nicholas – Clinic Director

DC, MChiro, PGCert Chiro, MCC

Undertakes work for some health insurance providers.

Doctor of Chiropractic, Rebecca Nicholas has been raised with a chiropractic ‘natural first’ philosophy and has been able to avoid GP’s surgeries and hospitals.

Following in the family tradition, Rebecca graduated from the Anglo-European College of Chiropractic in Bournemouth with a Masters degree in Chiropractic before moving back to her home town and first love, Brighton. She has undertaken a post-graduate certificate in paediatrics and takes a special interest in chiropractic paediatrics and pregnancy. She has since completed qualifications to use dry needling and Activator techniques.

Rebecca believes that prevention is always better than the cure. Young people especially should not dismiss their problems but get them looked at, preventing many health issues later in life.

Rebecca acquired the Clinic during 2007 and continues to treat Cornelia Nicholas’ patients, having since retired.

Doctor of Chiropractic Mike Ford

mike

DC, MChiro

Mike completed his training at McTimoney College of Chiropractic; here he learnt a specific style of chiropractic that can be very gentle and non-invasive, ideal for adjusting both the elderly and the very young.  However, before becoming a Chiropractor Mike was a sports rehabilitation therapist and specialised in helping athletes of all capacities recover from injuries and improve their sporting performance.

He believes strongly that as well as physical treatment, it is important to promote health in all areas including exercise, diet and lifestyle. Encouraging an upwards spiral in health often requires change in multiple areas and Mike is passionate about helping clients achieve that.

Mike enjoys climbing, rugby, water sports and calisthenics training. He has a passion for nature and loves to garden in his spare time.

“Over the months after my graduation I visited many different chiropractic practises, looking for a place with my values and culture. I knew that I wanted to find people that were not only caring, inclusive and passionate about their clients, but also delivered outstanding service to every single person that walked in.

After declining several positions elsewhere I happened upon Back 2 Balance. It was further away than most, but after visiting once, I knew immediately I would not want to be anywhere else.”

Hi my name’s Hayley.

I’m 23 years old. Originally I’m a Brummie but now I’ve been adopted by Brighton. I’ve had quite an eventful past, full of ups and downs but I don’t let that hold me back. Life is too short to let little things get in the way and I want to live it to the full. I’m always open minded and up for trying new things, I’m always a happy person, keen to make new friends, I enjoy taking on new challenges, expanding my knowledge and pushing myself. I love helping people and getting involved, I always get stuck in at the deep end.

My life motto is ‘ happy mind= happy soul’ you can always make find a positive in a negative situation. I’m a reliable person, very organised and enjoy embarking on new adventures. At the end of each day I relax by reading and catching up on the family’s events.

Faye Polden – Chiropractic Assistant

Hey I’m Faye!

I’m originally from the West Country and relocated to Brighton to study Guitar at Degree level. I took an injury to my shoulder because I played too much guitar! I know its kind of ironic but because of this injury, I began chiropractic treatment and noticed the improvement to my health and posture especially when playing guitar.

I really enjoy informing and helping people so they can get the most out of life and all the spontaneous adventures it throws our way.

I believe you have to make the most of everyday whether it’s reading a book, having the best pancakes in Brighton or playing an awesome gig.

Natalie Pearce – Chiropractic Assistant

I trained as a Beauty Therapist (Please look up definition, very different from a Beautician!). I managed a salon and taught beauty in Chelsea for 12 years until I had children. We then moved to Sussex when the children were babies to be closer to family and to give them a larger outdoor space, but I am by birth a Londoner.

I gave up working while my kids were tiny and went back to work part time in a design company, commuting to London, one day a week. I devoted the rest of my week to my family and our ever growing menagerie, as the kids grew up, I found myself taking on new roles, such as taxi driver and agony aunt to their friends and it felt as if I were running an unofficial youth club or catered hotel, but when they left home I missed them terribly and knew that if I didn’t find something to take up my natural nurturing personality, I would end up as a mad dog or cat lady!

When I first met the team at Back 2 Balance, I felt very at home. I realised that I had missed working face to face with guests and being part of making people feel good. Although I have only been in the clinic a short while, I have found all of the visitors completely charming and I am looking forward to getting to know you all!

Camilla Chilvers – Sports Massage Therapist

Take a scientific background in anatomy, complement it with rigorous sports massage training and mix it with someone who just loves to connect with people and get them to feeling their best; this is what you should expect from one of Camilla’s sessions!”

Massage was a breath of life for Camilla to ease the impact of long distance running on her body. Initially looking to stretch, relax and recover after hard training sessions, the deeper magic of massage began to reveal and holistic and alternative medicine became a priority in her life. Building from a knowledge base in anatomy, drawn from a degree in Biomedical Science and contextualised the study of movement in her Yoga teacher training in Nepal, Camilla found the elements to promote a healthy lifestyle. The final piece of the puzzle was to train in Sports massage in order to complete this tri-factor of holistic therapy and share a complete form of treatment with the world.

Louisa Adams- Sports Massage Therapist

My name is Louisa and I am thoroughly excited to be joining the lovely team at Back 2 Balance and working with them in the therapy industry. After looking at several other practices, Back 2 Balance stood out for me and I was drawn to the vibrant and energetic atmosphere of both the team and the clinic! I am excited to start my journey and work as part of a team with such a professional and well respected company.

Whilst undertaking three years of intense dance training I covered practical and anatomical work on fitness, posture, alignment, muscle trauma, and recovery from injury. Sports Massage and Physiotherapy became an integral part of my training and this began my fascination with the operation of the human body. Since then I have qualified in VTCT Level 3 Sports Massage Therapy, treated at MET Boxing Tournaments, worked for Studio 57 Clinic at the Brighton Marathon, and regularly treat people in the Sports Centre at the University of Sussex.

I am also qualified in Pregnancy Massage and Kinesiotaping and am currently furthering my knowledge & developing my techniques with VTCT Sports Massage Level 4, qualifying in January 2018. In my spare time, you can’t get me away from my love of circus skills and being outside surrounded by nature! You will most likely find me gardening, hula-hooping in the sun, bee-keeping, roaming through forests, hills and fields, helping on the farm, kayaking in the ocean, or hanging upside down on the aerial silks!

Roxanne Addison- Sports Massage Therapist

I am so excited to be joining the Back to Balance team as a Massage Therapist. Having always been involved in local sports teams, I witnessed first hand how an injury can impact an athlete both physically and pyschologically so decided I wanted to help. I studied Sports Rehabilitation at St Mary’s University in Twickenham and whilst there was given the opportunity to work within a variety of sports including rugby, football and volleyball as well as massaging at charity events such as the London Marathon and Breast Cancer Moon Walk.

I am a keen rower and spend my spare time battling the waves along the south coast. I love challenging myself so have decided to sign up for an open water 5k swim next year in Wales.

I am looking forward to adding my skills to such a fun and welcoming team who are so obviously passionate about improving all their clients overall health and wellbeing!
