Meet the Team

Chiropractic Dr Rebecca Nicholas – Clinic Director

DC M. Chiro MCC

Undertakes work for most major health insurance providers including Aviva, AXA/PPP and Simply Health

Doctor of Chiropractic, Rebecca Nicholas has been raised with a chiropractic ‘natural first’
philosophy and has been able to avoid GP’s surgeries and hospitals.

Following in the family tradition, Rebecca graduated from the Anglo-European College of Chiropractic in Bournemouth with a Masters degree in Chiropractic before moving back to her home town and first love, Brighton. She has undertaken a post-graduate certificate in paediatrics and takes a special interest in chiropractic paediatrics and pregnancy. She has since completed qualifications to use dry needling and Activator techniques.

Rebecca believes that prevention is always better than the cure. Young people especially should not dismiss their problems but get them looked at, preventing many health issues later in life.

Rebecca acquired the Clinic during 2007 and continues to treat Cornelia Nicholas’ patients, having since retired.

Chiropractic Dr Meriel Davis – Associate Chiropractor

MChiro DC, BSc Physiology

Undertakes work for most major health insurance providers including Aviva, AXA/PPP and Simply Health.

Originally from Guildford in Surrey, Meriel decided to pursue a career in Chiropractic after graduating from the University of Southampton with a degree in physiology. She trained at the prestigious Anglo-European college of Chiropractic and has since enjoyed treating patients of all ages, shapes and sizes. Meriel has a special interest in sports injuries and extremity issues as well as spinal complaints.

Meriel is an avid tennis player, playing for her local club and involves herself in various water sports when the conditions allow.
Being a keen sports woman herself Meriel has first hand experience of how a serious sports injury can affect a person on many levels, but also how fast the healing rate is with Chiropractic.
Meriel regularly works at national athletics championships in various stadiums around the UK (London, Cardiff, Birmingham, Derby) and Europe (Germany, Turkey, France). She has recently come back from working in Lyon, France, at the World Masters Athletics championships. This is part of the British Masters Medical Services. Her role here is to ensure optimal performance capability for the athletes but to also deal with any injuries they may incur or have already.

Meriel is also trained in medical dry needling, kinesiotaping, and IASTM (instrument assisted soft tissue mobilisation). She also conducts orthotic fittings.

Meriel firmly believes in the importance of pro-active care for optimal health. This includes nutrition, exercise and keeping the spine in tip top condition.

Candice Taylor – CHIROPRACTOR

A natural globetrotter, Candice has lived in and visited numerous countries throughout Asia and Europe. Growing up in Hong Kong, she witnessed first hand the exciting benefits of complementary medicine, and has been passionate about healthy living ever since. This lead to her to train at the Anglo-European College of Chiropractic.

After experiencing headaches throughout her life, Candice has been become especially interested in helping others who suffer from the same. This has lead her to extensive self-directed learning in to the area of chronic pain and how patients can be helped and more importantly how they can help themselves.

Also a trained hypnotherapist, she excels at delving in to the roots of these conditions, not stopping at the physical or mechanical aspects. Candice finds medical dry needling alongside chiropractic techniques useful to keep her clients on top form.

In her spare time Candice enjoys dancing and an outdoor life, especially by the sea. Having studied in fashion and textiles previously, she will always hold a soft spot for art and design.

Her main passion now is helping clients reach their full potential and keeping them there!

Mike completed his training at McTimoney College of Chiropractic; here he learnt a specific style of chiropractic that can be very gentle and non-invasive, ideal for adjusting both the elderly and the very young. However, before becoming a Chiropractor Mike was a sports rehabilitation therapist and specialised in helping athletes of all capacities recover from injuries and improve their sporting performance.

He believes strongly that as well as physical treatment, it is important to promote health in all areas including exercise, diet and lifestyle. Encouraging an upwards spiral in health often requires change in multiple areas and Mike is passionate about helping clients achieve that.

Mike enjoys climbing, rugby, water sports and calisthenics training. He has a passion for nature and loves to garden in his spare time.

“Over the months after my graduation I visited many different chiropractic practises, looking for a place with my values and culture. I knew that I wanted to find people that were not only caring, inclusive and passionate about their clients, but also delivered outstanding service to every single person that walked in.

After declining several positions elsewhere I happened upon Back 2 Balance. It was further away than most, but after visiting once, I knew immediately I would not want to be anywhere else.”

Nicola Wright – Massage Therapist

Nicola is a fully qualified and registered massage therapist and has attended many advanced massage courses to enhance her understanding of the body – this is both her passion and hobby. Her aim is to offer a totally unique treatment tailored to the client’s needs to help support the body’s healing capabilities. She mainly provides remedial deep tissue and myofascial release treatments to alleviate common complaints such as back, neck, shoulder & hip pain and sport related injuries. She also offers relaxing and stress reducing treatments including Indian Head, Pregnancy massage and Reflexology.

Regular massage strengthens and tones the entire body system. It can stimulate or alternatively calm the nervous system, help to ease tension, stiffness and pain, leaving the recipient relaxed and revitalised. Nicola attends Bikram Yoga and Tai Chi classes, which increases body awareness and maintains health, vitality and well-being. This has taught her the importance of combining the mind and body and how to ‘heal’ which is why this knowledge is incorporated into her practice.

Our staff and Chiropractic Doctors attend various training courses and seminars during the year to ensure the best, most-up-to-date service is available to our patients at all times.
