Clinical Psychology
The Therapy Rooms offer an established Clinical
Psychology service, several days each week.
Clinical Psychologists apply psychological insights
and skills to the area of human distress that can lead
to feelings of serious unhappiness, mental pain
and anguish.
Where appropriate, Clinical Psychologists help
people come to terms or solve their problems through
systematic interviewing and (sometimes) agreed
mental exercises. This is called psychotherapy.
Psychotherapy may help with feelings of anxiety,
extreme sadness or grief, stress or uncertainty
about how to find a solution to seemingly ‘stuck’
problems.
Consultations are strictly by appointment.

Swimming
Swimming is a good exercise and one that can be a lifetime sport benefiting all age groups.
Brighton and Hove have a number of large pools with long opening hours to suit many different lifestyles; providing exercise at a reasonable cost.
Popular swimming workouts build endurance, muscle strength, cardio-vascular fitness, helps posture and flexibility all at the same time. It can serve as a cross-training element to your regular workouts and is great as a warm up before a land workout. It gives you a great workout without the weight of your body pounding you with each and very move. Group workouts such as water aerobics, can be great social outlet too.
Swimming tones your upper and lower body because you are using almost all of your major muscle groups. There is low risk for swimming injuries because there is little stress on your bones, joints or connective tissue due to the buoyancy and the fact that you weigh one tenth less in water.
Local private and health club pools generally do not provide diving areas or boards, but may have added facilities such as a smaller toddler pool and jacuzzi. There may also be times where adult swimming times do not provide a lifeguard facility and kids swimming time restrictions.
The website www.zoggs.co.uk will help to organise you with your own tailored made swim workout programme - along with a great swimwear shop online.
www.littledippers.co.uk is a great, local, and fun swim website, primarily teaching badies, toodlers and kids to swim.
www.totalswimming.co.uk is a website put together by a number of ex-champs. |
